MMM....Strawberry shortcake Thanks Lisa for reminding me about this place. I had almost forgotten all about it. Ooops, my bad. So here is a slide show of some of a few sledding pictures I took. As you can see I am not in any of them...I'm not a big sledder. I'm more of a "build a snowman" kind of girl...or even build a fort. But here's the slideshow On to other news...my new project is my kitchen. I've decided to go with a strawberry theme for my kitchen. I don't know if any of you have ever looked for strawberry decor, but it's near to impossible to just go out and find strawberry decor. So far almost everything I've found, I've found online. I just finished putting up some strawberry knobs on almost all of my kitchen. I bought them on ebay. The case I had bought only had 25 knobs and it turns out my kitchen has 31 knobs. So now I'm having to order some separately. So by next weekend my knobs should be completely up. :) I also ordered some valances for the one little window I have in my kitchen. Again I found them on ebay. Ebay is my new best friend. So along with my knobs and my valances...all i need is the set of strawberry dishes my mom is holding for me. Turns out my parents' neighbor had these dishes in her kitchen and when she passed away, my mom inherited them. So now since my mom doesn't have the room or the need for them she asked me if I wanted them. And when I found out they had strawberries, I was all over them. I assured Alex that I wasn't going to go overboard on my little project. This is all I need to finish my kitchen. Can't have my kitchen look like a strawberry threw up in it. Other than that not much else is going on. The weather is not too bad. We were told we would be getting more snow but we got a little on wednesday and then that was it. We still have snow on the ground but nothing major. I'd say no more than an inch. Hopefully the groundhog is right and spring is just around the corner. :) January 18, 2007
Oh the weather outside is frightful.... So as I'm sure many of you have heard....we have had quite a bit of nasty weather. Honestly I don't think it's that nasty but combine that with people who don't know how to drive on this stuff and people who think because they're riding around in Hummers nothing can happen to them...and well you get nasty. This last weekend Alex and I were lucky to have Monday off, so we basically stayed indoors all weekend. And from what I hear, we might be doing the same this weekend. Now on top of all this ice, we're getting some snow. And of course everyone is running to the grocery store to stock up on "necessities." Mind you...there were a lot of people without power but people are so scared of every little thing. There are still lots without power. I just pray that those people know people that they can stay with. In other news...Alex will be starting a new job this coming Monday. I think it's finally sinking in that tomorrow is his last day at his current job. I hope he's able to move up in this new company he's joining. Apparently they told him that there will be opportunities. I sure hope so. And as for me...I'm still working behind a scanner. Although they're trying to give me more responsibilities which I don't mind one bit. It keeps me busy and lets them see what I'm capable of. I think at the moment they don't realize just how much I really know about loans. But hopefully that will soon change. I am enjoying an easy job at the moment though. I took some pictures of all this snow and of Alex sledding. I'll have to get them uploaded. And I hope to get a few more pictures taken once it snows this weekend. So that will be for my next post. :) Hope all of you are doing well. December 26, 2006
Party like it's 2007 Well all the hustle and bustle is finally gone. I can now settle down for a few days...but just a few because Sunday we'll be having the New Year's Eve party at our house. But before I get into all that...there's the limo ride story. We went last wednesday. It was all 5 kids, Sara and Bear (since the kids only listen to them), Alex's mom and the two of us. I think the best part was listening to the kids talking about how they couldn't wait. The cutest part was when they all thanked me one by one without anyone telling them to. Apparently they all went to school and told everyone that they would be riding in a limo that night. So of course I had to take at least one good picture of them all in the limo. The only bad thing about the whole thing was that the kids were so hyper from the cake and ice cream that they had eaten about an hour before the ride. So you can just imagine what they were like for a two hour limo ride. So loud and excited. haha. Anyway...here are the better pictures. So after the limo ride we had nothing more to do than clean the house and get it ready for Christmas Eve. We managed to clean the house and make the food for the party. I even managed to bake a cake, make a gingerbread house, and bake some cookies. All in the course of 2 days. Not too bad if you ask me. And now we have to prepare for New Year's. You are all invited of course! It's a pajama party! I figured why not be comfortable. Plus this way maybe people will be more apt to spend the night and not drive home. Now that we live this far out it's quite a drive home. So we're hoping for a night of board games as well as video games....maybe some Karaoke and of course some drinking. :) So put on your slippers and flannel pj's and head out this way. There's a margarita with all your names on it.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas.... So we went to the bank Christmas party Saturday and had a pretty good time. We get there and it turned out that they assigned us to a table. It's bad enough I can't remember the people at my branch...and now I have to remember those at the other branches too? At least our table had some empty seats...less people to have to remember. haha After everyone has eaten and the dj starts...he announces that each table is to nominate someone with the most Christmas spirit. And of course since I was the newbie, I got drafted. So the dj calls all of us nominees up to the front and we're all standing in a line. Then he calls the owner of the bank to stand on either end of the line. And before we know it...the conga line has begun. Me right in the middle of it all. *doh* So yeah...that was the extent of my dancing for the night. I made a fool of myself already and wasn't even drunk. But they made up for it about an hour later when my name was called for one of the many drawings they had that night. I am the proud winner of a limo ride to see the christmas lights around town. It's a 10 passenger limo and I plan on taking all the kids and a few adults to keep the kids in check. So tomorrow night we'll be seeing the lights in style. :) Hopefully I'll get some pictures posted for all of you to see. We're all so excited about it. I'm really more excited to see the kids and their reactions. So yeah...that's what's going on around here. I'm just about done with my shopping. I think we just have two left to shop for. And then I'll be finishing up the cleaning of my house. Anyone want to help? December 16, 2006
Busy, busy, busy... It's been crazy around here. My days go by so quickly now that I'm working. Just to recap what's been going on around here since my last post. Thanksgiving was great. We ate way too much but had a great time visiting with friends and family. I played Yahtzee for the first time and now I'm hooked. Thanks Lisa, like I need more games for my collection. HAHA So yeah...we had a marvelous time up north. Wish I could say the same when we got back. The thursday after thanksgiving it got pretty cold out here. Cold enough that we let the dogs sleep in the garage instead of outside. We got more snow than we have gotten in years. I think they said the last time they got close to this much snow was sometime in 99. And believe it or not, the snow lasted for quite a while. I managed to take a few pictures the day after all the snow had fallen. Of course with all this snow everything shut down. haha! Tulsa isn't equipped to handle so much snow so neither Alex nor I went to work the following day. My second week working and already not showing up....although I made sure to check in first to make sure they really didn't need me. And of course she said not to worry about making it in. So I didn't. :) Contrary to all the snow...this week was quite interesting...we had some very pleasant weather. I believe we were in the 60's and 70's this entire week. So of course all the snow has finally melted and everyone is rushing to wash their cars. I think I'm the only one that has yet to wash her car. So work is going alright. I'm still just scanning documents. I think I'll be doing this for quite some time. They have lots of files...not to mention all the new loans that come in. My job isn't as bad or as boring as it sounds. It's actually more involved than just scanning. So keeping busy there is good. Plus there's no better way to learn what papers go with what types of loans. So my job is going well. The people there are super friendly. And tonight we have the bank's Christmas party to go to. It should be a great party. They've rented a hall and are supposed to have a dj. There's even supposed to be prizes awarded all night and a grand prize at the end, close to midnight. So maybe tomorrow I'll post with some good news. haha Until then I've got lots of cleaning to do around here. Turns out...Christmas eve will be at our house and my house is a mess. This weekend is my cleaning weekend. Time to put everything away and get ready for the holidays. Including today only 9 more shopping days... November 20, 2006
Time to pack my "fat" jeans. So my first week at a new bank went well. Only problem though was that they have me in a corner away from everyone else. I'm in the same room but the way they have the partitions set up I'm all alone. The partitions are kinda set up like an "L" and I'm on the left of it...while the others are on the right. At least I can still hear their conversations and join in. I just can't see if they're making faces at me or not. *lol* Other than that, everyone there seems really nice. And of course there is plenty of work to keep me busy, which is good cuz my days have gone by so quickly. Well since I have yet to pack, I best go do that now. Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving! Don't forget to leave room for dessert. November 13, 2006
It's time for a change... So I went in to sign all the paperwork for my new job today but HR wasn't ready for me. I guess I'll just fill out everything tomorrow morning when I start working. I was hoping I would have the week off but that's ok. I could use the four days of pay since I'm not working next week. I'm anxious to start working. People there seem really nice. At the moment my job is gonna be a little monotonous but that's ok. I'm sure they will find new things for me to do. :) Now if you will excuse me...I've got the rest of the day to enjoy. No more bumming around for me. Time to get back to working.

cha-ching!!! I GOT THE JOB!!! And for a little more than I was asking for. All my hard work at the bank finally paid off. I'm so excited! I don't even know what else to say. November 9, 2006
I'm ready for some Turkey. I've been interviewing on and off for weeks now and finally yesterday I got a call from a place I have already interviewed at. My first 2nd interview. Actually I'm hoping this will be my last interview. This was the job I was really wanting. I had pretty much given up on this one since it's been several weeks. So we'll see what happens. :) And of course Alex is still interviewing as well. He hasn't quite given a notice at work but just yesterday found out that they have hired someone for his position to start working either soon after Alex gives notice or the first of the year which ever comes first. So here soon we'll both have new jobs. :) OH yeah....I'm going to Indiana for the Thanksgiving. I'm ready to get away from all the drama that goes on around here. Although...I'm not looking forward to leaving Oklahoma weather for Indiana weather. I have been spoiled down here. However if I get that job, then I have a reason to go shopping for new warm clothing. :) So really I can't complain. Ha. October 29, 2006
Halloween Party Pics The party wasn't what I was expecting...but it was ok. Alex DEFINITELY was happy. He drank an entire bottle of champagne and had several jello shots. Since I was the designated driver...I had one shot and lots of gummie bears. *lol* And as you all know it takes a lot more than just one shot to get me going. :) But here are just a few of the pictures I took. The others were pretty much just of the nameless people I took pictures of. :) Newer | Latest | Older |
